Youth United UK was founded in 1994; with the intention of training young people, from the age of eight, to become responsible citizens and experienced leaders; through regular sessions of fun, exciting, yet highly educational activities. It incorporates EMP, an adventurous outlet for 12-19 year old's

Its curriculum includes:

Community and service projects

Team building, through paintball activities

Public speaking training, in the form of a game

Drama training, as a creative activity

Break-dance training, as part of a physical training programme, and for public performances

Media training; including script-writing, acting, filming, sound recording, and editing

Fundraising and fasting for World Vision, helping young people in under-developed countries

Cycling (our last trip was a day along the Grand Union canal)

Camping (last event was in the Chilterns, coupled with an 18 mile hike)

Hiking (most recent event was a 12 mile hike, in sub-zero temperatures, along the Wiltshire Ridgeway)

Cooking (a two-day seminar with a professional chef)

Self-defence (including attitude, and quick and simple evasive tactics)

Indoor and outdoor 'extreme' games, run by a published author of games books for youth leaders worldwide

An annual talent show, in which everyone is encouraged to participate

Other events have included an entire season of golf training, dance from a variety of cultures, and mind-stretching University Challenge and Brain Gym sessions

All of these activities are carried out in a very friendly, and highly supportive, environment; and many extended sessions take place during holiday periods, creating a more intensive and immersive environment

Several of Youth United UK's regular trainers are full-time teachers, along with other professionals. There are always parents in attendance, many of them as regular volunteer staff; all of whom are CRB-cleared

As a result of the training received, it is not uncommon for Youth United UK's members to become form representatives, school councillors, prefects, and youth representatives. One is already a member of Harrow’s Young Parliament

As the young people become older, they are encouraged to take responsibility staffing the club, and looking after the junior members; thus becoming role models for them. Several have taken Child Protection, and First Aid courses; and have been admitted onto the club’s steering committee where, under the guidance and support of adult leaders, they become peer mentors

As a result, the club keeps on adapting to the needs of its members, as they grow older; and is currently creating opportunities for the 16-21 year old age group, while still attending to the 8-11's and 12-15's

Youth United UK remains one of the few officially registered youth clubs in the Harrow area, and meets on alternate Saturdays for under-12’s and over-12’s; from 14:30 – 17:30 for under-12’s, and usually the whole day for over-12’s
